Following Premier Foodservices recent launch of a new category partnership with the Country Range Group, the five finalists of the Bisto Care Chef of the Year competition have been revealed. As part of its ongoing commitment in supporting the healthcare channel, Premier Foods, has teamed its nation’s favourite gravy brand, Bisto, with well-known wholesale group, Country Range Group. With an increasingly ageing population in the UK and a quarter of the UK population to be aged 65 or over by 2066 , celebrating the work of care chefs up and down the country has never been more important.
The caterers competing against each other for the grand prize of £1,000 for their care home will be; Sheila Wallen from Ramping Cat Nursing Home, Burford, Anas Alsaadi from Coopers Croft Care Home, Potters Bar, Susan Davidson from Dunlady Nursing Home, Belfast, Carl Weston from Cuffley Manor, Potters Bar and Alexios-Michail Kyriakou from Enstone Care Home, Chipping Norton.
The competition final, taking place at the Premier Foods’ head office in St Albans, will see the finalists prepare and cook three portions of their chosen main meal and dessert within a 90 minute time frame. Each caterer must include a Bisto product within their main dish and a Country Range product in their dessert dish, the total budget for the two dishes should not exceed £2.25. Judging the dishes will be Mark Rigby, Executive Chef at Premier Foods, Preston Walker, Chef at Oak House Residential Home in Rutland and Emma Holden, Marketing Coordinator for the Country Range Group.
Sarah Robb, Channel Marketing Manager at Premier Foods, comments, ‘We’re delighted to have worked in partnership with the Country Range Group to deliver the inaugural Bisto Care Chef competition. It’s a great way of showcasing and celebrating some of the culinary work which caterers across the UK do in care homes. It’s so important to provide nutritious meals which are cost effective but don’t compromise on quality or taste to care home residents. I think our five finalists really have what it takes to do just this and I wish them all the very best of luck.”
The five finalists will be competing for the chance to win a £1,000 for their care home as well as a £250 John Lewis voucher for themselves.
