>> Schools and nurseries are being encouraged to sign up and get involved in Healthy Eating Week.
Run by the British Nutrition Foundation (BNF) from June 1-5, the awareness week aims to get education establishments across the UK to support the health and wellbeing of the children they teach.
Last year 4,400 schools, representing 1.75 million children and young people, took part in BNF Healthy Eating Week – up 35% on the previous year – and organisers are hoping to exceed that number this year.
Schools can actively get involved by running healthy eating sessions, cooking activities, tasting new foods, exploring where food comes from, arranging special assemblies and visiting a farm.
Why get involved?
• BNF Healthy Eating Week is great way for your school to support the health and wellbeing of the children you teach.
• It is free and resources will be provided to support your planning for the week.
• It is flexible – make it your week!
• It supports the curriculum and links into Whole School Food Policies and approaches.
