THE MARKETPLACE DANONE LAUNCHES ‘SUPER SNACK’ >> Danone is bringing its high protein yogurt Danio to the out-of-home market. Helping caterers profit from the 70% of adults who snack when on-the-go, Danio is a nutritious thick yogurt available in nine low fat and 0% fat, fruit layered varieties including blueberry, strawberry, mango and cherry. Free from preservatives and artificial flavours, Danio is made with twice as much milk as standard yogurt and is ideal for the 26% of people who eat snacks when in need of an energy boost. With foodservice data experts, Horizons, forecasting snacks to be the big driver behind out-of-home sales in 2014 and protein the new ‘it’ nutrient when it comes to healthy eating, Danio enables caterers to tap into two mega trends. They will join the existing range of Strawberry, Raspberry, Butterscotch, Chocolate and Toffee, which are available in convenient squeezy bottle packaging. Gillian Williamson, category marketing manager at Macphie, said: “With growth in added value breakfast products with an American theme, O.T.T.
