<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Bisto, the nation’s favourite gravy, has introduced a fully-recyclable packaging format across its foodservice range, saving almost 1,000kg of cardboard and 5.6 tonnes of plastic from entering the value chain each year.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">FSC-Certified</h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The FSC-certified cardboard cases for Bisto’s Original, Poultry, Reduced Salt and Vegetarian Gravy Granules have each been reduced in height by 20mm. The plastic shrink wrap has also been removed from the outer packaging – a move that cuts plastic use and prevents the output of more than 15 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. The Bisto foodservice range, which previously had a 92% recyclability rate, is now 100% recyclable.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A New Look and Feel</h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Bisto’s new, ‘leaner’ look will help caterers and chefs reduce waste and make more sustainable choices, while delivering more storage space for busy kitchens. While the amount of cardboard used has been reduced, the packs still contain the same amount of product.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The innovative redesign is the latest example of Premier Foods’ continued commitment to close the gap to 100% packaging recyclability under its Enriching Life Plan, articulated through three strategic pillars: ‘Product, Planet and People’.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“We’re inviting school chefs to enter SCOTY 2024 – an amazing national competition to showcase their culinary skills and the incredibly high standard of their school food.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A versatile jelly that can be enjoyed on its own, topped with fruits, or set with fruit encased, McDougalls Jelly Crystals are available in 3 flavours (orange, strawberry, and raspberry) and can be prepared and served on the same day, with a mere two-hour setting time. Unlike traditional jellies that require a mix of boiling and cold water, McDougalls vegan jelly is made using 100% boiling water.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This month Bisto has launched a Christmas Guide to help publicans and pub chefs maximise the festive and New Year trading opportunities, giving them a helping hand to deliver customer experiences to remember. With research highlighting that 61% of consumers want a unique experience they can’t create themselves at home this Christmas, the Christmas Guide gives insight into consumer dining habits and expectations, to help pub operators maximise the huge opportunity the festive season brings.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The digital booklet is also jam-packed with festive menu ideas and expert-led advice from award winning chef and patron of The Cricketer’s Arms, Harry Kodagoda. Pub chefs can also be inspired by six flavour-packed recipes, created by Harry, including a vegan Bisto apricot, puy lentil and cranberry bake and an indulgent Ambrosia apricot glazed panettone and butter pudding.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Premier Foodservice is expanding its much-loved and popular Bird’s range with the launch of two new flavoured custard powders – Strawberry and Chocolate. A staple in catering cupboards for decades, the brand is embarking on its first foray into flavoured custards to support caterers in providing nostalgic and traditional options which are in high demand.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Bird’s is the leading custard powder brand within foodservice, with a 37% market share<a href="http://siu-move.24m.co.uk/birds-launch-new-custard-powder/#_ftn1">[1]</a>. Its latest launch comes as the popularity of custard powder within the channel continues to rise – worth £3.7m and responsible for 30% of all custard in foodservice<sup>1</sup>, even with only vanilla currently available. Upon launch, Bird’s Strawberry and Chocolate custard powders will be the only flavoured products in the market, offering flexibility as suitable for vegans when made up with a plant-based milk alternative, and helping operators offer something new and tasty whilst remaining cost-effective.</p>
